Preparing for London Paralympics as a member of the press
I’ve known for a while that I will be going to London to cover the 2012 Summer Paralympics as a member of the press, represented Wikimedia Australia. This has been facilitated in large part because of assistance from the Australian Paralympic Committee. There is a whole list of things to do: Finish writing articles about every 2012 Australian Paralympian, get branded gear to wear so people know what media organisation we are from, coordinate with Wikinews to make sure we can publish quickly, read the media guide so we understand what is going on, get airfare arranged, plan a local meetup, etc. Most of this has been worked on, but every little thing needs to be looked after and planned.
Today, one of those little things got done. Wikipedia wear showed up in my snail mail box. Wikimedia Australia doesn’t have any sort of kit, so we could not ask them. The Australian Paralympic Committee would (and might still have to) provide us with their branded gear to wear as myself and Hawkeye7 are both attached to the History of the Paralympics in Australia project. I now have a sweat shirt, two polo shirts and a t-shirt. Also, a water bottle. Goofily, oops, still some issues with Hawkeye7 clothing but one thing accomplished! Yay!
