Editing nodes for Australian women’s sport on English Wikipedia
With 10 articles representing 5 women, 2 sport teams and 2 general sport articles, there were 590 unique contributors. There were 601 vertices and 678 unique edges. The average distance between two points was 3.2, with the maximum distance being 6. For the most part, there was little editing crossover, with only 14 editors having contributed to 3 or more articles and creating their own editing nodes inside Australian women’s sport. Of these, 7 were bots. Of the human editors, one editor adds images, one adds content and another does category fixing.
Six editing nodes exist. They are grouped around netball, Carrie Graf, women’s sport in Australia, Lauren Jackson, Canberra Capitals and Lauren Mitchell. There are some contributors editing between these nodes but not many. This suggests people are editing based on interest in an athlete, a team or a sport. With the exception of the seven human editors above, there is no broad net of cross participation across Australian female sport articles.
The graph below is an incomplete graph that hints at these nodes.
Courcelles contributed to four articles.
I contributed to 7 articles.
If this sample was expanded, I would hypothesize, based on having done similar analysis before, these patterns of editing would continue.
